The Most Important Feature for Displaying Your Work on the Net or entering your works in various Competitions online is Either Scanning or taking a picture using a Digital Camera. It is therefore very important that you acquaint yourself with the Scanning Process and requirements of the competitions at the very beginning. Such a Scanning will help you to also create and print beautiful greeting Cards of your drawing. so here is the process of Scanning.
1. Scan your artwork at 300 dpi. If the art work is larger than your scanner (generally A4) allows then photograph it using a 5 mega pixel or better digital camera. If your artwork is smaller than A4 or US letter aim for a 24 Mb uncompressed file size.
2. Save the image as a jpeg with a 'quality' level of 9 or 90% or one level below maximum.
The result so obtained will be your base image which you can use to send to various Competitions whose requirement are as under:
- Look and Learn Theme based competitions require you to to send the base image mentioned above but require the file size to be maximum 5mb in size. If your base file is larger you need to down size your base file proportionately and save as a separate file which you can later delete from your Computer. N. B. The file so down sized should not be lesser than 1024 pixels in height or width.
- While Art Show for kids requires you to down size your base file to not bigger than 1200 pixels in height or width.

- If you want to use the base Image for your own web site than it is advise able to down size your image size to 500 pixels in either height or width with the quality level of 3 i.e medium this will drastically bring your image size below 100kb thus open faster in a web browser. [smaller the better.]
